We were shown the pilot of the UK office in my television class the other day. I have never seen any of the UK version before, and I was surprised at how similar the UK and US pilots were -- including many of the same jokes. I don't really like any of the UK characters, except for one. I think I may love the UK Jim ("Tim") more than the US version. He's the same funny and cute guy, plus he's BRITISH. xo

Today was the first day the writers and studios discussed the strike issues since it began on November 4th. The talks were set to be in a neutral location, and there is no word yet whether the talks will continue into tomorrow, or what happened today. We're waiting. As the writer's strike continues, I will continue to support the writers because they are really campaigning for something that they truly deserve. However, I am very unhappy to have been informed that next Thursday (11/15) could be the final episode for season four. It is unlikely that the strike will end anytime this year, and with a cease in production for The Office, it will take even longer for new episodes to get on the air. And worst yet, the episode that will follow the episode on the 15th is supposedly the funniest one Greg Daniels has ever worked on. It features Jim and Pam going to Michael and Jan's for dinner and getting in a raucous fight about Jan suing the company (show on the 11/15 episode). I am just really excited to see that episode, if it ever airs :(

As everyone probably already knows, the WGA strike started early this week, halting production for Late Night TV, and seriously endangering the seasons of popular new TV shows. While many shows have 5-7 episodes already written and ready to be shot, The Office is an exception to this standard. Although many episodes may have already been crafted, the show is largely improvised and Steve Carell, a member of WGA, has refused to "cross picket lines" and thus, the show has stopped production. This strike could likely continue well into 2008 (the last writer's strike lasted 5 months) and this is very disappointing news for Office fans. However, the writers' demands are definitely in line -- an increase in payment for DVD sales from 4 cents for every $20 to 8 cents for every $20. Additionally, the writers are asking for compensation for on-line content. For The Office, this means webisodes and online airings of the episodes. For more information, see this article :
